The Flo Manifesto
I'm a singer and songwriter from Melbourne, Australia. I LOVE Music!!! I perform with my soul/funk concoction and we call ourselves "Florelie & the Backlash Brew". We are crazy about Soul, Funk music by the legends Nina Simone, James Brown, Aretha, Stevie just to name a few.
I was born in Manila's worst area, Tondo, and I believe that this is why I can be pretty fierce when put in a situation. We moved to Melbourne in 88 which has actually toned me down a bit. This city is practically heaven compared to Tondo. The day we arrived, I instantly felt at home.

Big West Festival opening at Footscray Park. Our next gig called “RESPECT” is part of this festival and will be held at Revolt Melbourne Artspace. We will be playing the biggest songs of Aretha Franklin and another soul band will be playing the music of James Brown. It will be an ultimate SOUL EXPLOSION as these 2 legendary artists are undoubtedly the biggest ambassadors of soul and funk! Nuff said :)

Seafood share plate @ Republica Bar in St Kilda. The oysters were the highlight for me. The price was a little bit of a let down - $39 and we still had to order bread and olives for sides. Still it was a great platter.
Lucid Dreaming..
Yesterday at around 4 or 5pm, I fell asleep for about 15mins while trying to learn songs for tonight’s show.. so tired from a weekend full of gigs. Anyway, 5minutes into it, I once again found myself in a lucid dream!
It’s happened a couple of times before. I remember freaking out 7 years ago when I had a lucid dream. It was strange. I knew I was in bed lying down but I felt that I couldn’t move. My mind fought hard to get out of that state. Since I couldn’t move, I thought that my body was already dead but I was still conscious. The feeling was pretty scary.
