The Flo Manifesto
I'm a singer and songwriter from Melbourne, Australia. I LOVE Music!!! I perform with my soul/funk concoction and we call ourselves "Florelie & the Backlash Brew". We are crazy about Soul, Funk music by the legends Nina Simone, James Brown, Aretha, Stevie just to name a few.
I was born in Manila's worst area, Tondo, and I believe that this is why I can be pretty fierce when put in a situation. We moved to Melbourne in 88 which has actually toned me down a bit. This city is practically heaven compared to Tondo. The day we arrived, I instantly felt at home.

I am a Natural Dreamer…
So a friend of mine was talking to me for the longest time about dreams and achieving them etc. Then we touched on the topic of visualising and seeing myself as the successful person that I dream to be. Well, I’ve been visualising since I was about 8. I used to visualise that I was a famous singer on TV, singing every high and low note perfectly. This dream never left me.. from high school to uni, to my many corporate type jobs. It wasn’t until I was 27 that I realised that this dream will keep me up all night for as long as I live! So alas, I did something about it. Funny that… 19 years later and I finally worked up the courage to do it.
I’m still dreaming albeit the dream has slightly become more modest. I just want to make a decent living out of making music. If I keep positive and surround myself with the right people, I’m halfway there. Got 90% of the work to do still but I have full belief that I can do it.. along with the people who share the same dream with me (I’m sure they visualise too!).
